Carron tourist & visitor information
Carron is located in the heart of the Burren. The village is a good base for your stay in the Burren. Carron has a number of Bed and Breakfasts and there are a number of nice hotels close by. There are also some self catering cottages and apartments in the area.
Carron is one of the unexplored secret places of the Burren here you can see the Burren at your own pace and in your own time.
If your interested in hill walking or guided cycling or walking tours there are a number of local resources and guides in the area. If golf is your passion a trip to the famous links course in Lahinch is a must though you will need to book well in advance to get a tee time during the season. If you have time a short hop out to the Aran Islands via the ferry from Doolin or Liscannor is a very enjoyable day trip.
There are a number of interesting tourist sites and visitor attractions in the immediate surrounds of Carron. If you have time Caherconnell Stone Fort near Carron (below) is an interesting and unique chance to examine life in the Burren past and present.
