The first annual Spraoi Heritage Weekend took place at Caherconnell Stone Fort on the 10th & 11th July 2010. The fort was filled with the sound of old-world characters guiding visitors through the day-to-day workings of Irish Medieval Society in Caherconnell. Spraoi proved to be a highlight of the year so far at Caherconnell. Age-old skills such as pole-lathe wood-turning, black-smiting, Bronze Age pottery making and cooking were displayed on both Saturday and Sunday. A great weekend of family fun was had by all with the bouncing castle and traditional horse shoe pitching also proving popular with those visiting.

This medieval living history event was held conjunction with members of the Mogh Roith re-enactment group. Stuart Fernie was also on site with his pole lathe and Peter Collins was Caherconnell's very own blacksmith in residence for the weekend. This event was free with admission to Caherconnell Stone Fort. Spraoi Heritage Weekend activities took place from 11-5pm each day. Caherconnell Stone Fort is open from March to October, 10am to 5.30pm daily. Cafe, craft shop and car-parking are available on site. Admission: Adult 5 euro Family 14 euro.
